About the SER
Whence the Roundtable?
This initiative is the ‘brainchild’ of Brian King, Mani Mitchell and Brad Williamson. We’ve been doing sexuality education work together as researcher, change agent, and educator (respectively), and we’ve sensed that it would be a good time to bring numerous people to the same table. Our vision extends to Aotearoa/New Zealand as a whole, hence our quarterly meetings are convened in shifting locations around the country.
Research and Education
From my point of view, I hope to conduct further research in sexuality education settings in New Zealand (both school and non-school) and to help foster the efforts of other researchers who want to do the same. In addition, I hope we can inititate a community in which educators can exchange ideas and resources.
By bringing together researchers, educators, and grass-roots agents of change, the hope is that we can foster networks for inter-disciplinary research by and with others. Our ongoing dialogue will increase the likelihood of collaboration between community stakeholders and researchers in the area of sexuality education. This effort is important if the results of research are to be taken up by those who work in New Zealand communities.

Purpose of this blog
The main purpose of this site is to provide a link between all invitees, regardless of whether or not they have been able to attend Roundtable gatherings. In the interest of that goal, I hope you’ll all write in your profile a very brief blurb about yourself and how you are involved (or plan to be involved) in sexuality education or research related to sexuality education.
All the best,
Brian King
